Pakistan partially reopens Chaman border after Afghanistan request

Pakistan has partially opened its border with Afghanistan on Monday at the request of the Afghanistan government.

“At the special request of Government of Afghanistan and based on humanitarian considerations, Pakistan has decided to allow the exit of Afghan nationals in Pakistan, wishing to go back to their country," read a statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The border crossing will remain open for three days till April 9 for one-way pedestrian movement.

However, the cross-border transportation will remain suspended. Pakistan has closed its border with the neighbouring country after COVID-19 outbreak in order to stem the further spread of the infection.

According to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), Afghan national stranded in Pakistan are being allowed to go back to their homeland.
