NAB is independent institution, functioning as per its law: Murad
Minister for Communication Murad Saeed has said that National Accountability Bureau (NAB) is an independent institution and functioning as per its law.
He was speaking in the National Assembly on Thursday after the members on the opposition benches condemned the arrest of PPP Leader Khurshid Shah by the anti-graft body.
The Minister reminded that the NAB Chairman was appointed by the previous government with the consultation of PPP. He said that it was also PML-N and PPP who earlier used to accuse each other of corruption.
The Minister said that instead of making hue and cry on the arrest of their leaders, the opposition parties should raise the voice for the rights of Kashmiri people. He said we should give the message that the entire Pakistan and Parliament stand shoulder-to-shoulder with their Kashmiri brethren.
Murad Saeed said that it is the first time that Hindutva face of India has been unmasked by Pakistan at the international level. He said the world today is supporting Pakistan's stance on Kashmir dispute.
Expressing concerns over the situation in Occupied Kashmir, the Minister for Communication said that people there are short of medicines, foods and other essential commodities. He said the Kashmiri people are looking towards Pakistan.
Earlier, the PPP and PML-N leaders expressed reservations on the arrest of Khurshid Shah. They said that it is collective responsibility of all the political parties to work for the protection of sanctity of the Parliament and Parliamentary democracy. They said that Khurshid Shah should be allowed to explain his position in the House after issuing his production orders.
