'We will ensure justice for Mashal's death', Imran Khan
SWABI: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan in a press conference on Tuesday strongly condemned murder of Wali Khan University student Mashal Khan, Aaj News reported.Â
PTI Chief visited the house of Mashal Khan to offer his condolence to the slain student’s family. Sitting alongside the father of Mashal Khan, Khan stressed that no one would be allowed to misuse the blasphemy law to kill someone.
Khan stated that Mashal did not commit any blasphemy and it has been cleared in the investigation. “The purpose and reason was something else and blasphemy was used as an excuse to target Mashal,†he said.
'Being a father, I could understand what Mashal’s family was going through', Khan added and vowed that those responsible for this barbaric crime would be brought to justice.
"I want to assure his parents that I will ensure justice for his death," Imran Khan said.
Mashal Khan, a student of journalism at Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan, was lynched by an angry mob on April 13 which had accused him of blasphemy.
Earler this day, National Assembly unanimously adopted a resolution to condemn what it called the heinous crime of killing someone in the name of blasphemy and called for incorporating certain safeguards in blasphemy law to avoid recurrence of such incidents.
“This House unanimously condemns the barbaric and cold-blooded murder of Mashal Khan and resolves to ensure that strong safeguards may be inserted into Blasphemy Law to prevent its abuse through such atrocities in future including by mobs involved in such crime,†stated the resolution adopted by the House.
