Karachi brace for another heat wave
KARACHI: The heat wave in Karachi will persist in Karachi today (Monday) with temperature to touch 38 to 40 degrees Celsius.
According the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) extreme hot weather will persist in Karachi and locals are advised to take precautionary measures to beat the heat.
Citizens have been advised to stay indoors and not venture out in the sun unnecessarily. The Met department has also asked citizens to increase their intake of water to prevent a heat stroke.
Fearing that there could be a severe heat wave in Karachi and other parts of the province this summer similar to the one in June 2015 which killed over 3,000 people in the city, health authorities have put all public hospitals in Sindh on high alert after the weather turned unexpectedly hot in Karachi and the rest of province.
Temperature in Karachi is likely to rise up to 40 °C whereas weather will be dry and hot in other plain areas.
PMD added said that the heat wave would grip most parts of the country, for the next two days. -Business Recorder
