85% of blasphemous content removed from Facebook

ISLAMABAD: The interior ministry on Monday informed the Islamabad High Court (IHC) that Facebook administration has removed 85 per cent of blasphemous content from the social networking website, banning Facebook is not the solution, Aaj News reported.  

Islamabad High Court headed by Justice Shoukat Aziz heard the case regarding blasphemous content on social media.  During the hearing, Interior Secretary Arif Khan said that as much as 85 percent of blasphemous content has been removed from social media.Only 15 per cent of such content is remaining, he said in his report.

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has arrested three suspects for their alleged involvement in publishing blasphemous content on social media, the secretary informed the court.

Later, the hearing of the case has been adjourned till March 31.
