Tehmina Janjua becomes Pakistan's first ever woman foreign secretary

ISLAMABAD: Tehmina Janjua has assumed charge as new Foreign Secretary of Pakistan on Monday, Aaj News reported. 

Earlier, she served Pakistan as Permanent Representative to the United Nations in Geneva. Janjua replaces Aizaz Chaudhry, a career diplomat who has taken up charge as Pakistan's new ambassador to the United States.
Janjua joined the Foreign Service in 1984. Apart from pulling off stints at the United Nations in Geneva and New York, she was previously posted as ambassador to Italy from December 2011 to October 2015.
Later, she was being posted at the Soviet Union and Eastern Europe for a year.  Janjua has worked as a director at the foreign secretary’s office, director general strategic planning and as a spokesperson in 2011 also at the headquarters.
