Senate elections: ECP scrutinises nomination papers
The process of scrutiny of senate nominees' papers has been completed in Punjab while it is continuing in other parts of the country.
Election commission has cleared the nomination papers of MQM nominees including Kanwar Khalid Younis, Nasreen Jalil, Barister Doctor Farogh Naseem, Syed Mustafa Kamal,  Kanwar Naveed jamal, Naila latif, Arshad Vohre, etc.
While Chaudhry Aitzaz Ahsan of PPP and Ishaq Dar of PML-N were elected as Senators unopposed on Thursday.
No candidates of any party had submitted nomination papers for the two technocrat seats from Punjab except Aitzaz Ahsan and Ishaq Dar.
The former president Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA), who is also PM Gilani’s counsel in contempt of court case, had filed his nomination papers on the seat for technocrats.
Papers of PML-Q nominee Kamil Ali Agha have also been accepted.
Three including Mohsin Laghari's papers have been rejected by the election commission.
The scrutiny procedure will continue till February 17th.
