Ghazal maestro Jagjit Singh still critical
Veteran ghazal singer Jagjit Singh, who underwent two life saving surgeries for brain haemorrhage on Friday evening is still critical and continues to be on ventilator support.
However, the doctors at Lilavati Hospital where the ghazal maestro has been admitted say that Singh’s condition hasn’t worsened since then but still remains critical.
Talking to a daily, a source said, “We were told by the doctors treating him that this kind of bleeding could occur when a blood vessel within the skull is broken or leaking.â€
"The clot is removed after opening up the skull," said Dr Vishwanathan Iyer, consultant endovascular neurosurgeon, Kohinoor Hospital.
Nonetheless, the hospital authorities refrained from divulging any detailed information on the kind of treatment that is being given.
"Singh has been operated for brain haemorrhage. He is stable. His family would not like to disclose more details," said Lilavati Hospital’s spokesperson.
Singers Anup Jalota and Pakistani ghazal singer Ghulam Ali visited ailing Singh.
Here’s wishing the veteran singer a speedy recovery.
