Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saree said on Tuesday the group launched a large number of ballistic missiles and drones at military deployments, weapons depots and command centres in the coastal city of Mokha and the Tadawin military camp in Marib province.

In a statement carried by the Houthi-run Saba news agency, Saree said the targeted forces were affiliated with Saudi Arabia.

He claimed the attacks struck their targets and resulted in “dozens killed and injured”, including Saudi nationals.

There was no immediate response from Saudi Arabia, which says it does not have troops stationed inside Yemen.

Riyadh maintains that its role is limited to supporting forces aligned with Yemen’s internationally recognised government and protecting its borders.

Earlier on Tuesday, Yemen’s National Resistance Forces, which support the internationally recognised government, said the Houthis had launched 10 missiles and four drones at positions along the country’s western coast since morning.

The forces said their air defences responded to the attacks and shot down a drone carrying explosives.

Yemen had experienced a relative lull in fighting since April 2022 after years of conflict between government forces backed by a Saudi-led coalition and the Iran-aligned Houthis, who seized Sanaa and large parts of the country in 2014.

The Houthis have become increasingly involved in regional hostilities since late 2023, after Israel launched its war in Gaza.
