According to Central Police Office sources, modern bulletproof armoured personnel carriers (APCs), twin-cabin vehicles, pickup trucks, vans, lifters and motorcycles have been provided to police in several districts.

Dragon APCs have been handed over to police in Tank, Hangu and Swat, while other APCs have been provided to the Upper Dir and Mansehra police.

The police have also received single- and double-cabin vehicles.

Swat and Lower Dir police have been provided with single-cabin 4x4 vehicles, while Hangu and Tank police have received 4x2 single-cabin vehicles.

Modern vehicles have also been supplied to police in Kohat and Torghar.

Hiace vans have been provided to police in Peshawar, Mardan, Swat, Kohat and Bannu, while Dera Ismail Khan, Abbottabad and the telecommunications unit have also received Hiace vans.

The Central Police Office said 33 vehicle lifters had been distributed among various districts and units.

The lifters are expected to assist with traffic management and help curb illegal parking.

Police in different districts have also been provided with 25 motorcycles.

Inspector General of Police Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Zulfiqar Hameed said the upgrading of 84 APCs of the provincial police was underway.

He said the APCs were being equipped with modern technology, while police mobiles were also being reinforced with side armour to enhance their protection.

The police chief said the deployment of modern vehicles, APCs and pickup trucks would further improve the force’s operational capacity and enable it to respond more effectively to security challenges.

Hameed said the provincial police were being equipped with modern tools and technology to maintain law and order and ensure timely and quality police services for the public.
