Iran ready to deepen ties with Pakistan across key sectors, Pezeshkian says

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has praised Pakistan’s efforts to strengthen ties with Tehran, saying Iran is ready to expand bilateral cooperation across political, economic, trade, cultural and security spheres.

Pezeshkian made the remarks during a meeting with Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi in Tehran on Tuesday evening, where the two sides discussed ways to deepen relations between the neighbouring countries.

The Iranian president said Pakistan’s leadership had demonstrated a strong commitment to strengthening solidarity and expanding relations with Iran, describing the approach as highly valuable to Tehran.

He called for greater use of the existing potential and capacities of both countries to enhance bilateral cooperation, saying Iran was prepared to broaden ties in all areas of mutual interest.

Pezeshkian also stressed the importance of Iran-Pakistan relations in the wider regional context, calling for stronger interaction and expanded economic, commercial, cultural and security cooperation.

He said closer ties between the two countries could serve their mutual interests while contributing to greater regional stability and security.

Naqvi, meanwhile, expressed satisfaction with his meeting with Pezeshkian and said his visit to Tehran was aimed at following up on agreements and understandings reached during the recent visit of Iranian Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni to Pakistan.

Naqvi reaffirmed the longstanding relationship between the two neighbouring countries, describing Iran-Pakistan ties as strong and “unbreakable”.

Naqvi said Islamabad remained committed to pursuing the comprehensive development of relations with Tehran.

He also stressed the importance of implementing existing agreements and understandings, saying his visit was part of efforts to strengthen bilateral cooperation mechanisms and accelerate the implementation of commitments made by both sides.
