The six-member delegation was led by Iran’s Minister for Industry, Mining and Trade, Mohammad Atabak, according to a statement issued after the meeting.

The two sides agreed to enhance facilities for round-the-clock border operations, improve logistics, and bring greater coordination to customs procedures.

PM Shehbaz said Pakistan valued its ties with “brotherly” Iran highly and would continue sincere efforts for regional peace.

He said he hoped sustained efforts would help both countries reach the $10 billion bilateral trade target set by their leadership, with food and agricultural trade seen as a key growth area.

The prime minister added that he had recently held a good conversation with Iranian President Dr Masoud Pezeshkian on regional peace and expanding bilateral ties, particularly trade.

The two countries also agreed to deepen cooperation in the mining sector, particularly on the processing and value addition of precious stones.

Officials said technical-level talks are ongoing on a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between Pakistan and Iran.

Atabak thanked Pakistan for its warm welcome and hospitality, and praised the Pakistani leadership and people for their diplomatic efforts for regional peace and solidarity with Iran. He said Iran was keen to further expand economic and trade relations with Pakistan.

PM Shehbaz conveyed good wishes for Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyed Mojtaba Hosseini Khamenei and President Dr Masoud Pezeshkian.

Federal Ministers Rana Tanveer Hussain, Jam Kamal Khan, Ali Pervaiz Malik, Junaid Anwar Chaudhry, Minister of State for Finance Bilal Azhar Kayani, Special Assistants Syed Tariq Fatemi, Haroon Akhtar and Talha Burki, along with senior officials from relevant institutions, attended the meeting.
