According to mine owner Qurban Jogezai, around 42 miners were inside the mine when the explosion occurred. Rescue teams have so far recovered six bodies and rescued three miners alive, while efforts are continuing to locate the remaining 33 workers.

Rescue officials said the blast was triggered by an accumulation of methane gas inside the mine, causing a collapse that buried dozens of miners.

Balochistan Minister for Mines and Minerals Mir Shoaib Nosherwani said Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti had directed an immediate response to the incident.

Following the instructions, the Chief Inspector of Mines and officials of the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) reached the site and launched a rescue operation.

Nosherwani said the provincial government was closely monitoring the operation and that all available resources had been mobilised to rescue the trapped miners.

The rescue effort continued late into the day, with emergency personnel working to clear debris and reach those believed to be trapped beneath the collapsed mine.

Coal mining accidents are common in Balochistan, where methane gas explosions, inadequate ventilation and poor safety standards have repeatedly claimed the lives of miners. Similar incidents in the province have highlighted persistent concerns over mine safety and enforcement of regulations.
