The decision was announced by PHF ad hoc president Mohyuddin Ahmad Wani on the recommendation of the federation’s Professional Development Committee.

According to the PHF, Abu Bakr was chosen in recognition of his impressive performances at the international level, leadership qualities and outstanding contributions to the national team.

He will lead Pakistan in the World Cup and other upcoming international competitions.

The federation said the leadership change was made as part of its strategy and preparations for the World Cup.

Imad Butt will remain part of the national squad and continue to guide the team as a senior player, the PHF said.
