According to a notification issued by the Ministry of Energy (Petroleum Division), the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) revised the ex-depot prices in line with the government’s daily pricing framework.

Following the latest increase, the price of petrol has risen from Rs320.73 to Rs327.12 per litre, while high-speed diesel has increased from Rs367.21 to Rs375.04 per litre. The revised prices have taken effect immediately.

The latest revision comes a day after petrol was increased by Rs4.93 per litre and diesel by Rs7.15 per litre.

Over the past two days, petrol has become costlier by Rs11.32 per litre, while the price of high-speed diesel has risen by Rs14.98 per litre.

The government last week replaced the previous weekly petroleum pricing system with a daily mechanism, authorising OGRA to determine petrol and diesel prices based on a rolling seven-day average of international oil prices.

The move is aimed at allowing quicker adjustments to fluctuations in global energy markets.

The repeated increases are expected to add to inflationary pressures by raising transportation and logistics costs.

High-speed diesel is widely used by the freight, agriculture and industrial sectors, while higher petrol prices will directly affect private motorists and commuters across the country.
