According to Axios, Washington has informed Israeli officials that more refuelling aircraft will be sent to support potential future operations as the conflict enters its seventh consecutive night with little sign of a diplomatic breakthrough.

The United States carried out another round of overnight strikes on Iranian targets, while Tehran responded by launching attacks targeting Bahrain, Kuwait and Jordan, further widening the regional conflict.

At the height of the fighting, the US had stationed more than 70 refuelling tankers in Israel.

Around 33 aircraft remain at Ben Gurion Airport, although Israeli media reported that the additional tankers are expected to be based elsewhere rather than at the country’s main international airport.

The deployment follows a recent dispute between Israel’s Transport Ministry and the US military over the large number of American aircraft parked at Ben Gurion Airport, which officials said could disrupt civilian air traffic during the busy summer travel season.

Three killed in Iran

Meanwhile, Iranian state media reported that overnight US strikes hit Hormozgan province on the Iranian side of the Strait of Hormuz.

State television said the attacks killed three people and injured eight others.

The strikes also damaged two bridges and a road tunnel, according to the report.

The latest military exchanges underscore the intensifying conflict between Washington and Tehran, with both sides continuing to expand operations despite mounting international calls for de-escalation.
