Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar held a bilateral meeting with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi in Shanghai on the sidelines of the World Artificial Intelligence Conference (WAIC).

The two leaders reviewed the full spectrum of Pakistan-China relations and reaffirmed their shared commitment to further strengthening the all-weather strategic cooperative partnership.

They underscored the importance of advancing high-quality development under CPEC 2.0 while expanding collaboration in trade, investment, science and technology, the digital economy and artificial intelligence (AI).

The ministers also exchanged views on the latest regional and global developments and agreed to maintain close coordination on issues of mutual interest.

The meeting highlighted both countries’ shared focus on innovation-driven growth and reinforced their commitment to strengthening strategic cooperation in emerging technologies.

The meeting came as Pakistan formally joined the newly established World Artificial Intelligence Cooperation Organisation (WAICO) as a founding member during a signing ceremony in Shanghai, reaffirming its commitment to promoting international AI cooperation and equitable access to emerging technologies.
