The district administration has also announced fines for running tuition classes in homes without permission.

According to the Education Authority, the three-day survey will collect details on security arrangements, student enrolment and other key information at all private academies and tuition centres.

A comprehensive report will be prepared after the survey is completed.

The authority said the findings will be used to formulate a new policy and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the registration and regulation of private tuition centres to help prevent similar incidents in the future.

The survey will also identify unsafe and unregistered tuition centres.

Special inspection teams comprising zonal heads and Assistant Education Officers (AEOs) have been formed to complete the exercise within three days.

The Education Authority said measures are being taken to ensure the safety of students and regulate private academies and tuition centres across Lahore.

Director of Communication for the Education Authority, Tariq Mahmood, said an effective and comprehensive regulatory framework would be introduced based on the survey findings.

Separately, the Lahore district administration has ordered the closure of all illegal tuition centres and announced fines for the unauthorised commercial use of residential properties for tuition classes.
