Three militants killed in attack on Rangers camp in Karachi

Three militants belonging to the Indian proxy Fitna Al Khawarij were killed, and another, identified as an Afghan national, was arrested after security forces foiled an attack on a Pakistan Rangers (Sindh) camp in Karachi, the military’s media wing said on Sunday.

According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), militants belonging to the banned Jamaat-ul-Ahrar group carried out a “cowardly terrorist attack” on a Rangers camp on June 27.

The attackers detonated explosives at the camp’s main gate before attempting to breach the security perimeter.

However, Rangers personnel responded swiftly and thwarted the assault, killing three attackers and arresting one militant in an injured condition, the statement said.

The arrested suspect is an Afghan national.

During the exchange of fire, three security personnel were martyred while four others sustained injuries, according to the ISPR.

The military’s media wing said clearance operations were continuing in the area to eliminate any remaining militants involved in the attack.

It added that the country’s security forces and law enforcement agencies remained committed to eliminating the threat of foreign-sponsored terrorism under the country’s counterterrorism campaign and the national vision of “Azm-e-Istehkam”.

The ISPR said Pakistan would take retaliatory action against those responsible for the attack to avenge the deaths of its personnel.

The statement further said that the Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces had expressed condolences to the families of the martyred personnel.

“These sacrifices further strengthen our resolve to defend the nation at all costs,” the statement added.
