Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar arrived in Cairo on Saturday to participate in the Regional Foreign Ministers’ Meeting of the R-4 group, where leaders are expected to discuss regional security, peace and cooperation.

Upon arrival, Dar was received by Egypt’s Assistant Foreign Minister for Policy Planning, Research, Crisis Management and Assessments, Nazih El Naggary, along with Pakistan’s Ambassador to Egypt, Aamir Shouket.

The ministerial meeting, scheduled for June 21, will bring together the foreign ministers of Pakistan, Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Turkiye to exchange views on key regional and international developments.

According to Pakistan’s Foreign Office, the ministers will discuss issues related to peace, security and stability, while exploring ways to strengthen cooperation among the four countries in areas of mutual interest.

Dar is also expected to hold bilateral meetings with his counterparts on the sidelines of the gathering.

During his visit, he is scheduled to meet Egyptian Foreign Minister Dr Badr Abdelatty and call on Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.

The discussions are expected to focus on expanding Pakistan-Egypt cooperation and reviewing regional and global developments of shared concern.

The Cairo meeting marks the fourth session of the R-4 framework, which Islamabad views as an important platform for consultation and coordinated action on regional challenges.

The forum convenes three months after Pakistan hosted the foreign ministers of Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Turkiye in Islamabad for talks focused on the Middle East and broader regional issues.

Officials say the latest meeting will continue efforts to enhance diplomatic coordination and promote collective approaches to peace, stability and economic cooperation across the region.
