Naqvi’s visit comes amid ongoing diplomatic activity in the region and efforts aimed at advancing dialogue between Iran and the United States.

Earlier in the day, the interior minister arrived in Mashhad, where he paid respects at the shrine of Imam Ali Raza.

He was received upon arrival by the Governor General of Khorasan province before departing for the Iranian capital.

According to official sources, Naqvi is scheduled to hold further meetings with senior Iranian leaders during his stay in Tehran.

Discussions are expected to focus on Iran-US negotiations, regional security developments and matters of mutual interest between the two neighbouring countries.

The visit follows recent diplomatic efforts aimed at easing tensions in the region. Pakistan has been actively supporting dialogue and engagement among regional stakeholders, with officials repeatedly emphasising the importance of diplomacy for maintaining stability.

Iranian state media had earlier reported that the Pakistani minister would meet senior members of the Iranian leadership during his visit.
