According to sources, PML-N will not be part of the cabinet but will extend outside support to the PPP-led government.

The posts of governor and deputy speaker will go to PML-N, while the chief minister will be from PPP.

PPP leader Naveed Qamar also confirmed the development in a television interview, saying the two parties had agreed on government formation in Gilgit-Baltistan.

“The governor and deputy speaker posts will go to PML-N while the chief minister of Gilgit-Baltistan will be from PPP,” he said.

PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari has summoned a meeting of the party’s GB parliamentary party and senior leadership to take key decisions regarding government formation.

In the recently held GB assembly elections, PPP secured 11 seats, PML-N six, independent candidates who subsequently joined the Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP) four, PTI-backed candidates two and Majlis Wahdat-i-Muslimeen one.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had invited the PPP to form the government in Gilgit-Baltistan after the party emerged as the majority party in the legislative assembly elections.
