‘I’m in the sky’: Abu Dhabi resident wins Dh30 million lottery jackpot

A Nepalese resident of Abu Dhabi has become the UAE Lottery’s latest Dh30 million jackpot winner, marking a life-changing win in the latest Lucky Day draw.

An announcement in this regard by the UAE Lottery follows days of curiosity after the lottery initially disclosed only the winner’s first name, Tayab K**, on its official website, the Dubai-based Gulf News says in a report.

The partial reveal sparked widespread speculation about the man behind the masked moniker.

“Tayab Khan has become the newest multi-millionaire after selecting seven lucky numbers that matched the full set of winning numbers, transforming his future in a single draw,” the UAE Lottery said in a statement.

The Dh30 million prize marks the first jackpot since the lottery changed its format in late 2025, reducing the Grand Prize from Dh100 million to Dh30 million.

The lottery operator noted that the win follows the first Grand Prize winner, Anil Kumar Anilkumar Bolla, a 29-year-old Indian expat from Abu Dhabi, who claimed Dh100 million in October 2025.

Win on Eid-ul-Azha

Khan’s winning ticket was drawn on Wednesday, April 27, coinciding with the first day of Eid-ul-Azha.

The UAE Lottery said the timing adds to a recent trend of Wednesday draws producing life-changing wins, including a Dh5 million prize awarded two days later on April 29.

“I’m feeling absolutely amazing, like I’m in the sky,” Khan told the UAE Lottery in his first reaction.

The 33-year-old shared that he had chosen his numbers randomly and was unaware he had won at the time of the draw.

“I wasn’t even watching the draw,” he said, adding that he discovered the win later through an email notification. “It was a fantastic feeling.”

Prize details and future announcements

The UAE Lottery has not yet released a photo of Khan, but said it plans to share a video interview and additional details in the coming days.

A spokesperson emphasised the significance of the win:

“This represents an important moment for the Lucky Day draw, delivering its second Grand Prize winner since the Dh100 million jackpot, following two Dh5 million winners. Our twice-weekly draws reflect our continued commitment to giving back to the community through meaningful prize opportunities.”

The Lucky Day draws take place every Wednesday and Saturday at 9.30pm, offering participants the chance to win the Dh30 million Grand Prize, a Dh5 million second prize, and three Dh50,000 Lucky Chance prizes per draw.
