As Eid Al Azha celebrations continue, authorities across Punjab have implemented extensive and exemplary cleanliness arrangements to remove animal waste.

Since the sighting of the Eid moon, a total of 283,000 tons of waste and animal remains have been safely disposed of, officials said.

According to DG Suthra Punjab Authority Babar Sahib Deen, 124,000 tons of waste were collected and disposed of safely on the first day of Eid, while over 110,000 tons were removed on the second day.

Deputy Commissioner Lahore Ali Ejaz and Babar Sahib Deen remained active in the field throughout the Eid holidays to monitor cleanliness.

The officials visited several city areas, including Mian Mir Darbar, Garhi Shahu, and Mughalpura Railway Station, to inspect cleanliness arrangements.

During their visits, they also distributed Eidi and sweets to sanitation workers.

Teams from the Suthra Punjab have also been working tirelessly to collect waste from homes, streets, and other slaughter sites.

Streets and slaughter places are also being washed by water mixed with phenyl to maintain hygiene and prevent the spread of germs.

In addition, rose water is also being used to draw down foul odours and maintain public health standards at public slaughter points.

Authorities are employing drone cameras to monitor illegal dumping of waste into canals, streams, and drainage channels.

DG Babar Sahib Deen reported that more than 30,000 citizens have contacted the Suthra Punjab helpline and the citizen app for guidance and timely collection of waste.

The public has praised the cleanliness arrangements, commending Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif and the Suthra Punjab teams for their efficient management during the festival.
