Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab said all local government bodies will remain active during the five days of Eid-ul-Adha operations, with Solid Waste Management responsible for garbage collection across the city.

Speaking to the media after offering Eid prayers at Gulshan-e-Jinnah Polo Ground, Wahab congratulated the people of Karachi and the Muslim Ummah on Eid-ul-Adha.

He said Eid-ul-Adha presents the biggest operational challenge for the Karachi administration due to large-scale animal sacrifice across the city.

The mayor said 105 collection centres have been established across 25 towns, while deputy commissioners and assistant commissioners will also remain present in the field during the Eid period.

He said the administration would deal with all challenges and urged citizens to contact the Solid Waste helpline 1128 in case of complaints or problems.

Responding to a political question, Wahab said politics should be avoided during Eid, adding that Karachi belongs to everyone.

Deputy Mayor Karachi and other city officials also attended the Eid prayers.
