Pakistan Television (PTV) confirmed the departure, stating that discussions are expected to cover the Iran-US dialogue, regional stability, and key bilateral issues, with Field Marshal Munir scheduled to meet senior Iranian leadership during the visit.

Security sources described the visit as significant, given prevailing regional security challenges, noting that strategic and security cooperation between the two countries will also feature in the talks.

The visit coincides with a separate high-level Pakistani diplomatic presence in Tehran.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi is currently in Iran, where he met Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.

According to Iran’s state news agency, the two sides held detailed discussions on the de-escalation of regional tensions and matters related to a potential ceasefire with the United States.

Both officials also explored various mechanisms for establishing regional peace and possible diplomatic solutions.

Pakistan and Iran maintain regular engagement on security and regional affairs.

However, high-level contacts have taken on added urgency against the backdrop of the US-Iran conflict, with Islamabad positioning itself as an active participant in diplomatic efforts aimed at reducing tensions and restoring stability to the region.
