The opposition-led Tehreek Tahafuz Ayeen-i-Pakistan (TTAP) has announced a nationwide protest on Friday against soaring inflation, rising petroleum prices, the law and order situation, and the release of political prisoners.

The decision was taken during a meeting of opposition parties presided over by Mahmood Khan Achakzai.

According to a statement released after the meeting, opposition leaders held a detailed discussion on the country’s current political and economic situation.

It noted that escalating inflation and continuous increases in petroleum prices are causing severe hardships for the public.

The statement criticised the government for adding to the public’s burden instead of providing relief under these circumstances.

The meeting also reiterated its demand for the release of political prisoners, stressing that protests have become essential to end lawlessness and restore constitutional and democratic principles.

Protests will be staged at all district headquarters across the country on Friday, according to the statement.

The opposition leaders emphasised that the struggle for the upholding of the constitution, democracy, and public rights will continue at every level.
