Pakistan condemns drone attack on UAE nuclear plant

Pakistan on Monday strongly condemned the drone attack on the Barakah Nuclear Plant in the United Arab Emirates, expressing full solidarity with the UAE government and people.

In a statement, the Foreign Office described the targeting of nuclear facilities as a “grave violation” of international law, including the United Nations Charter, international humanitarian law, and the principles of nuclear safety set by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

It stressed that nuclear installations must never be attacked, warning that such actions carry “potentially catastrophic and irreversible consequences” for human life, the environment, and regional and global security.

Pakistan emphasised that civilian nuclear infrastructure is inviolable under international norms and called on all parties to exercise maximum restraint, adhere to international obligations, and avoid actions that could escalate tensions beyond the region.

The statement underscored that dialogue and diplomacy, in line with the United Nations Charter, remain the only viable route to lasting peace, stability, and de-escalation in the Gulf region.
