The moon of Zul-Hijjah 1447 AH was sighted in Pakistan, after which Eid-ul-Azha will be celebrated across the country on Wednesday, May 27.

The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee met in Karachi to sight the moon, chaired by Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad at the Met Office. Members of the central and zonal committees, along with officials from the Meteorological Department and SUPARCO, attended.

Zonal Ruet-e-Hilal Committee meetings were also held in Lahore, Karachi, Quetta and Peshawar.

Separately, the sighting of the Zul-Hijjah moon was confirmed in Tunisia and Turkiye, both of which announced Eid-ul-Adha on May 27. Tunisia declared May 18 as the first day of Zul-Hijjah, while Turkiye also fixed May 18, following astronomical calculations rather than traditional sighting methods.

Indonesia and Malaysia also reported moon sighting, setting Eid-ul-Azha for May 27, while India did not sight the moon and will observe Eid on May 28.
