According to Indian media reports, Diljit allegedly obtained United States citizenship in 2022 and has since been travelling on a US passport instead of an Indian one.

The reports further claimed that after acquiring American citizenship in September 2022, he stopped using his Indian passport and now enters India on an e-visa.

The reports also suggested that the actor-singer may not possess an Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) card, adding to speculation about his nationality status.

Details circulating online claim Diljit’s last Indian passport was issued in Mumbai in 2018.

His wife, Sandeep Kaur, is reportedly already a US citizen, while Diljit is said to have listed California as his place of residence in official documents.

The speculation has surprised many fans, particularly because the singer is widely associated with Punjabi identity and culture.

During concerts and public appearances, Diljit frequently raises the slogan “Main Hoon Punjab,” reflecting his strong connection to his roots.

Despite the growing debate, Diljit has so far remained silent and has neither confirmed nor denied reports regarding any change in citizenship.

The actor recently dismissed rumours about entering politics after a group of retired officials and professionals reportedly urged him to join Punjab politics. Responding on social media, he said, “Never. My job is only to entertain people,” making it clear that he intends to remain focused on the entertainment industry.

Amid the ongoing speculation, Diljit continues to remain active in Indian cinema. He recently appeared in “Border 2” alongside Sunny Deol and is also set to star in his upcoming film “Main Wapas Aaunga”, scheduled for release on June 12, 2026.

Whether Diljit chooses to publicly address the rumours or allow the debate to continue remains unclear.
