Formal negotiations between the IMF team and government officials are scheduled to begin tomorrow.

According to sources in the Ministry of Finance, the discussions between Pakistan and the IMF will focus on finalising budget proposals, revenue targets, and the overall economic strategy.

Negotiations are expected to continue for up to a week.

The agenda will also include setting tax collection targets for the new budget, measures to improve fiscal discipline, and proposals to balance government expenditures.

Recommendations related to development spending and next year’s development programmes will also be reviewed.

The sources added that the negotiations will likely cover coordination of budgetary policies, strategies to control the fiscal deficit, and steps to maintain overall economic stability.
