Field Marshal Asim Munir: Any future aggression will have severe consequences

Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Asim Munir on Sunday delivered a strong message to Pakistan’s adversaries, warning that any acts of aggression would have far-reaching and severe consequences.

His remarks came on the occasion of the first anniversary of the landmark military operation, Marka-e-Haq.

A special ceremony was held at the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi to commemorate the victory, with Field Marshal Asim Munir as the chief guest.

Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Baber Sidhu and Naval Chief Admiral Naveed Ashraf also attended the event.

During the ceremony, the Field Marshal and the service chiefs laid floral wreaths at the martyrs’ memorial and offered prayers, while armed forces contingents presented a military salute.

Addressing the gathering, Field Marshal Asim Munir said, “Today is a day of immense pride for us, as this day we delivered a decisive response to India in Marka-e-Haq that it will never forget.”

He added that the enemy had attempted to test our resolve and dignity but ultimately fell victim to its own false thinking and self-deception.

“India aspired for dominance in the region, but it forgot that its ambitions far exceeded its capabilities,” he said, citing a verse from the Holy Quran: “The truth has come and falsehood has vanished. Indeed, falsehood is bound to vanish.”

Field Marshal Asim Munir emphasised that Marka-e-Haq was not a conventional war between two countries or armed forces, but a decisive battle between two opposing ideologies, in which Pakistan emerged victorious by the grace of Allah.

Field Marshal Asim Munir said that India thought that it would isolate Pakistan militarily and diplomatically, but all its estimates proved wrong.

He said that Pakistan and its forces have not been intimidated by any pressure in the past and will not be in the future.

Issuing a stern warning to enemies, he said that any future acts of aggression would result in consequences far more extensive and dangerous than before.

“To maintain peace, we must remain ever-ready for war. Pakistan’s armed forces are fully prepared for conventional and unconventional warfare,” he added.

Highlighting the armed forces’ achievements, Field Marshal Asim Munir noted that superior military strategy had forced the enemy into retreat.

The Pakistan Air Force successfully targeted over 26 strategic military objectives, setting new records in aerial combat.

He also praised the Pakistan Navy for securing the country’s maritime borders and stated that enemy forces along the Line of Control were forced to retreat under pressure.

He added that India had suffered heavy personnel and material losses during its aggression.

Field Marshal Asim Munir also announced the establishment of a Multi-Domain Operations Centre to better address future security challenges.

Acknowledging public and institutional support, he thanked the nation, political leadership, media, and youth, praising the latter for countering enemy propaganda effectively.

He described the recent defence agreement with Saudi Arabia as historic and said Pakistan’s capabilities are now recognised globally.

Paying tribute to martyrs and veterans, he stated, “The families of our martyrs are the crown upon our heads. Pakistan has always been invincible and will remain so.”

He reaffirmed Pakistan’s resolve to continue the fight until the last terrorist is eliminated.
