Trump intervention saved India from major losses: Mohsin Naqvi

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi on Thursday claimed that Pakistan had targeted key Indian assets during Marka-e-Haq, but said intervention by Donald Trump prevented India from suffering major losses.

Addressing a press conference in Islamabad alongside Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry, the interior minister said Pakistan achieved success during the conflict with what he described as divine support and military preparedness.

Naqvi said India deployed small and medium-sized drones toward various parts of Pakistan, but claimed most were intercepted near the border by Rangers personnel.

He added that India also attempted cyberattacks, but alleged that Pakistan maintained superiority in that domain as well.

“During the Pakistan-India tensions, large-scale drone usage was witnessed for the first time,” he said.

The interior minister claimed Pakistani drones flew over the Indian prime minister’s residence in New Delhi, creating fear among Indian authorities.

He said Pakistan never targeted Indian civilians, while accusing India of attacking civilian populations inside Pakistan.

Naqvi praised Pakistani media for what he called a responsible role during the conflict, saying it helped keep the nation united through an effective narrative, while Indian media remained confused.

He also lauded Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir and the armed forces for their performance during the confrontation.

According to Naqvi, India targeted a Pakistani base before the ceasefire, prompting Pakistan to launch what he termed a limited but effective response that destroyed a major Indian oil depot.

He said Pakistan had locked onto key Indian targets, including warplanes and naval installations, which compelled India to move toward a ceasefire.

The interior minister further praised intelligence agencies for providing timely information that contributed to the success of operations.

“Pakistan had information about India’s situation as if it were its own country,” he said.

Naqvi claimed that US President Donald Trump’s intervention during the tensions saved India from major destruction and added that India would think “many times” before engaging in any future adventurism.

Responding to a question, he said he had closely observed developments between the United States and Iran and expressed hope that efforts by Field Marshal Asim Munir could also contribute to positive progress on that front.
