Strait of Hormuz situation ‘unbearable’ for US, says Iran

Iranian Parliament Speaker Baqer Qalibaf warned on Tuesday that the situation in the Strait of Hormuz is becoming “unbearable” for the United States, asserting that Tehran has “not even started yet.”

In a post on X, Qalibaf claimed that a “new equation” is taking shape in the strategic waterway, accusing the US and its allies of endangering shipping and energy transit by violating ceasefires and imposing blockades.

“Of course, their evil will be diminished,” he added.

Qalibaf underscored that Iran is closely monitoring growing pressure on Washington.

“We know very well that the continuation of the current situation is unbearable for the United States, while we haven’t even started yet,” he said.

The remarks follow growing tensions between the US and Iran amid a blockade of the Strait of Hormuz.

Iranian forces have repeatedly warned US warships against approaching the strait, with the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) conducting regular missile and drone exercises to demonstrate its asymmetric capabilities.

On Monday, the Iranian navy claimed to have fired missiles and drones at US vessels as “defensive measures to protect Iran’s sovereign waters”.

Commercial shipping in the area has been suspended amid rising tensions.
