Citing a senior military source, the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) stressed that Iranian forces had no premeditated plan to target the facilities in the UAE.

Earlier, authorities in the UAE blamed Iran for launching a drone strike on oil facilities in Fujairah, which caused a big fire. 

Iranian media, however, described the blaze as a consequence of the US military’s actions, designed to create a corridor for the passage of ships through the Strait’s restricted waters.

“What happened was a product of the US army’s adventurism to create a corridor for the illegal passage of ships through the prohibited waterways of the Strait of Hormuz,” the source stated.

The source added that Washington must take responsibility for endangering regional stability.

“American politicians must put an end to the ugly behaviour of using force in the diplomatic process and cease military adventurism in this sensitive oil region, which affects the economies of countries around the world,” he said.

The fire comes after US President Donald Trump announced a military operation to challenge Iran’s control of the Strait of Hormuz, a critical shipping route.

In response, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) warned that any US military or commercial vessels attempting to transit the Strait without coordination with Iranian authorities would face “swift and decisive action.”

Earlier on Monday, the Iranian Navy reportedly fired missiles and drones at US warships approaching the Strait, claiming the vessels ignored repeated warnings.

The navy said the action was necessary to enforce Iran’s control over the waterway, allowing passage only to ships deemed non-hostile and in compliance with security protocols issued by Tehran.
