Sources said domestic airfares have been reduced by Rs15,000 to Rs20,000 to attract travellers. Despite the cuts, passenger numbers continue to fall, worsening the situation for airlines.

A total of 120 domestic and international flights have been cancelled due to low demand. Aviation activity has declined significantly across airports nationwide, including Allama Iqbal International Airport.

Officials said the aviation industry is already under severe pressure, further exacerbated by tensions between Iran and the United States.

Around 20 flights to and from Karachi, Islamabad and other cities were cancelled, while 100 international flights to Gulf countries and Istanbul were also affected.

Breakdown of cancellations shows 27 flights from Karachi, 21 from Islamabad, nine from Multan, 13 from Peshawar, and eight from Faisalabad were scrapped.

Airport sources confirmed that the reduction in flight operations is ongoing.
