Petrol prices have been raised by Rs6.51 per litre, taking the new rate to Rs399.86 per litre.

Meanwhile, high-speed diesel (HSD) saw a sharper increase of Rs19.39 per litre, with the new price set at Rs399.58 per litre.

The latest hike comes amid ongoing volatility in global oil markets and rising import costs, adding further pressure on consumers already grappling with inflation.

The revised prices will come into effect from midnight.

Officials said the price revision was announced a day earlier than usual due to the May 1 public holiday.

Earlier, the Petroleum Division rejected reports suggesting a shutdown of petrol pumps across the country due to fuel shortages.

In a statement, it termed such claims “baseless” and assured the public that the supply of petroleum products would remain uninterrupted.

“Spreading panic among the people through fake propaganda should be avoided,” the division said, adding that fuel availability has been maintained even during heightened regional tensions.

Authorities reiterated that there is no risk of supply disruption and that adequate stocks are in place to meet national demand.
