In a post on Truth Social, Trump said the decision to extend the pause in hostilities was made following requests from Pakistan’s leadership and amid what he called instability within Iran’s government.

He said the United States had been asked to hold its planned attack.

The announcement comes as Pakistan continues to play a mediating role between Washington and Tehran during ongoing efforts to prevent escalation in the conflict.

According to earlier diplomatic exchanges, Pakistan had been involved in backchannel contacts with both the US and Iran, including facilitating discussions involving senior officials from all sides in Islamabad.

The process followed earlier ceasefire arrangements and failed rounds of direct talks.

Pakistan’s leadership has been increasingly visible in regional diplomacy, with Field Marshal Asim Munir and PM Shehbaz Sharif previously hosting and engaging with US and Iranian delegations during earlier stages of negotiations.

The US has not provided further details on the duration or conditions of the extended ceasefire, while Iran has not publicly confirmed acceptance of the extension at the time of Trump’s statement.
