Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu condemned the act, calling it unacceptable and confirming a criminal investigation into the soldier involved. He said disciplinary action would be taken.

Foreign Minister Gideon Saar also denounced the incident, saying it contradicted Israeli values.
