“I urged him to seize the opportunity presented by the talks launched in Islamabad to pave the way for a lasting de-escalation and a robust agreement that provides solid guarantees for security in the region,” Macron said on X.

Macron said he also stressed the need for Iran to restore freedom and security of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz “as soon as possible,” calling it essential for regional stability.

According to the French president, a comprehensive and durable agreement involving all relevant stakeholders is critical to ensuring long-term security.

He also underscored the importance of fully respecting a ceasefire in Lebanon.

Expressing support for Beirut, Macron said, “France supports the actions of the Lebanese authorities.

Only the Lebanese authorities have the legitimate and constitutional right to exercise state sovereignty and determine Lebanon’s future.”

On the Iranian side, President Masoud Pezeshkian said the high-level delegation in Pakistan is committed to safeguarding Iran’s interests during the negotiations.

In a message posted on X, he stated that regardless of the outcome of the talks, Iran’s government would stand by its people.

The statements come as crucial negotiations between the United States and Iran continue in Islamabad, facilitated by Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts.

The dialogue marks the first direct engagement between the two countries in over a decade and is being described as one of the most significant diplomatic developments since Iran’s 1979 Islamic Revolution.
