The calls followed Trump’s warning that Iranian civilisation “will die tonight” if a deal is not reached, prompting sharp backlash from within his own country.

According to the report, lawmakers are urging the use of the 25th Amendment or other mechanisms to remove Trump from office.

The move marks a significant shift, as Democrats had largely avoided renewed attempts to remove him following an unsuccessful impeachment effort during his first term.

Prominent progressive figures leading the push include Representatives Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ayanna Pressley, Rashida Tlaib and Ro Khanna, along with Senator Ed Markey.

Democratic Representative Eric Swalwell also demanded action, saying, “The President must be removed. If Congress is too cowardly to do it, his own Cabinet must.”

Other lawmakers backing the call include Representatives Sarah McBride, Seth Moulton and Sara Jacobs, reflecting growing concern across the Democratic Party over Trump’s conduct during the crisis.

The push comes as tensions between the United States and Iran intensify, with domestic political divisions in Washington deepening over the administration’s handling of the conflict.
