Tehran rejects Trump’s ultimatum, fires at Kuwait oil complex

A defiant Tehran rejected US President Donald Trump’s threat to ‘make a deal of face hell’ as a “helpless and nervous” ultimatum and struck Kuwait’s oil complex on Sunday.

Kuwait Petroleum Corporation said a fire broke out in its Shuwaikh oil ‌sector complex, which houses the oil ministry and KPC headquarters, after a drone attack.

Citing the finance ministry, the Kuwaiti state news agency reported early on Sunday that an Iranian drone hit an office complex for government ministries, causing significant material damage but no casualties.

Two power generation units were also taken out of service after Iranian drones targeted two power and water ‌desalination plants, causing significant damage, Kuwait’s electricity and water ministry said on Sunday.

No injuries were reported in any of the incidents, according to Kuwaiti state media.

A spokesperson for Kuwait’s Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy says Iranian drones have targeted two electric power and water distillation plants in the country.

The “criminal aggression” caused “serious material damage” to the plants and the outage of two electricity-generating units, said Fatima Abbas Johar Hayat.

There were no casualties, she added.

The Kuwaiti military confirmed its air defences were actively intercepting missiles and drones targeting the country.

“Kuwaiti Air Defences are currently responding to hostile missile and drone threats,” the army posted on X, clarifying that any explosions heard were the result of interception operations.

The latest attacks come as the US-Israeli war on Iran, now in its sixth week, broadens, with Tehran striking Israel and Gulf Arab states hosting US military installations.
