Heavy rain and hailstorms lashed parts of Lahore on Tuesday, disrupting electricity supply and inundating low-lying areas.

The downpour affected multiple localities, including Johar Town, Wapda Town, Green Town, Mall Road, Dharampura, and Mughalpura.

The Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) system was hit as several feeders tripped, leading to widespread outages across the city.

According to rainfall data, Nishtar Town recorded the highest precipitation at 50 mm, followed by Johar Town with 32 mm and Nakhuda Chowk with 19 mm. Other areas recorded moderate rainfall, including Gulberg (16.4 mm), Jail Road (5.16 mm), Airport (10.8 mm), and Lakshmi Chowk (8 mm).

Authorities said drainage operations were underway in low-lying areas to clear accumulated rainwater.

Residents welcomed the cooler weather but expressed concern that prolonged rainfall could damage crops.

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has forecast more rain across most districts of Punjab over the next 24 hours.
