Dadu court acquits all accused in high-profile triple murder case

A model court in Dadu on Monday acquitted all eight accused in the high-profile triple murder case involving the father, grandfather and uncle of Umme Rubab Chandio, concluding a seven-year-long legal battle.

The court had reserved its decision on February 27 after conducting around 400 hearings over the years.

The case has captured widespread attention, partly because it allegedly involves powerful figures.

The murders reportedly took place after members of Umme Rubab’s family formed a Tamandar Council to oppose the tribal chieftain system in the Mehar area.

Among the accused were prominent figures, including Sindh Assembly members Sardar Ahmed Chandio and Burhan Khan Chandio, along with former SHO Karim Bux Chandio.

Speaking outside the court, Umme Rubab said she would challenge the verdict in the High Court and the Supreme Court.

Expressing hope of getting justice from higher courts, she said that the public had already ruled in her favour, as the public knows the truth.

“We have already won this case in the court of public opinion.”

She added, “I have succeeded in this struggle so far, and my determination to seek justice remains strong. Not all fingers are equal, and that is why I will approach the High Court and Supreme Court against this verdict. My resolve has always been strong, and it remains so today.”
