Israel strikes on Iran nuclear, industrial sites

Israel’s military on Friday confirmed it carried out strikes on key Iranian nuclear-linked facilities, including a heavy water plant in Arak, as Iranian authorities reported additional hits on a uranium processing site and major industrial units.

In a statement, the Israeli military said its air force struck the heavy water plant in Arak, central Iran, describing it as a “key plutonium production site for nuclear weapons.”

Iranian media reported that the Khondab Heavy Water Complex, located near Arak in Markazi province, was targeted in two stages.

Officials said there were no casualties and no radiation leak.

Separately, Iran’s Atomic Energy Organisation said a uranium processing facility in Ardakan, in Yazd province, was also hit in what it described as an attack by the “American-Zionist enemy.” The agency said the strike did not result in any release of radioactive material.

The developments mark a significant escalation, with multiple strategic sites targeted across central Iran.

Iranian media also reported that US-Israeli airstrikes struck two major steel plants, including Khuzestan Steel in the southwest and Mobarakeh Steel in Isfahan.

According to Fars news agency, an electrical substation and an alloy steel production line were damaged at the Mobarakeh complex, while a warehouse was hit at the Khuzestan facility.

“Rescue forces have immediately arrived at the scene of the incident,” Fars wrote.

Steel production is a critical sector for Iran, supporting industrial output as well as military manufacturing, including missiles, drones and naval equipment.
