Cut fuel, gas use by 50% or face inflation impact: Rana Sanaullah

Prime Minister’s Adviser on Political Affairs Rana Sanaullah has urged citizens to cut their petrol and gas consumption by half, warning that failure to do so could lead to further inflationary pressure.

Speaking to the media after Eid prayers, Sanaullah said Pakistan is facing multiple internal and external challenges, and rising global energy prices could directly impact the country if consumption is not reduced.

“If the nation does not reduce fuel and gas usage by 50%, the effects of rising global prices will be felt more severely,” he said.

He stressed that both political and military leadership are actively addressing current challenges, while reaffirming Pakistan’s position on Afghanistan in line with the UN Charter.

On security, he said operations against terrorist elements were ongoing under Operation Ghazab-lil-Haq, targeting specific threats. He reiterated that Pakistan does not seek conflict with Afghanistan and only demands that its soil not be used for attacks against Pakistan.

Addressing political matters, Sanaullah said the government believes in political reconciliation and has invited all parties for dialogue, including a proposed “Charter of Stability.”

He also confirmed that local government elections in Punjab are expected soon, with preparations already underway.

Sanaullah reiterated that austerity and conservation are essential at this stage, urging citizens to play their part in stabilising the economy.
