Arab, Islamic foreign ministers urge Iran to stop attacks on neighbours

Foreign ministers from Arab and Islamic countries have called on Iran to immediately stop attacks on its neighbouring states during a consultative meeting in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

The meeting was attended by foreign ministers from Pakistan, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Jordan, Syria, Egypt, Turkey, Bahrain, and Kuwait.

Discussions focused on the prevailing regional tensions and conflict involving Iran, Israel, and the United States, as well as the escalating regional instability.

Speaking at a media briefing after the meeting, Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud said attacks on neighbouring countries violate international law and contribute to instability in the region.

“Attacks on Gulf countries will bring no benefit to Tehran. If Iran believes the regional countries lack the capacity to respond, it is Tehran’s misunderstanding,” he said.

Prince Faisal added that, if necessary, Saudi leadership will make appropriate decisions, emphasising the kingdom’s full right to defend itself.

He also stressed that Iran must cease support for proxy groups in the region and ensure the security of maritime routes to maintain regional peace and stability.

A joint communiqué also asked Iran to secure the Strait of Hormuz and refrain from actions that could disrupt global trade through the crucial waterway.
