Korangi received the highest rainfall in Karachi as a sudden spell of rain accompanied by strong winds disrupted daily life across the city, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) said.

According to official data, Korangi recorded 55mm of rain, the highest in the metropolis during the latest spell.

Other areas also witnessed varying levels of rainfall. Mauripur recorded 22mm, while Gulistan-e-Jauhar received 13mm. Keamari saw 12mm of rain.

The PMD said 9mm of rainfall was recorded in the Old Airport area, Shahrah-e-Faisal and Saadi Town, while Jinnah Terminal received 8mm.

The downpour, coupled with gusty winds, caused disruptions across several parts of the city, affecting daily life and traffic flow.

The Met Office had earlier forecast rain and thunderstorms in Karachi due to a westerly weather system affecting parts of Sindh.
