Pakistan airstrikes hit ammunition depots in Afghanistan

Pakistan’s armed forces carried out a series of airstrikes inside Afghanistan late on March 16, targeting Afghan Taliban military facilities under Operation Ghazab-lil-Haq, security sources said.

According to military sources, Pakistani aircraft struck multiple locations in Kabul and Nangarhar, destroying ammunition storage sites and technical support infrastructure used by militant elements.

Under the operation, two locations in Kabul were targeted, where ammunition depots and technical support facilities were “effectively destroyed”, security officials said.

Footage from the strikes reportedly showed large flames and powerful explosions, indicating the sites were military targets rather than civilian offices or hospitals.

In Nangarhar, Pakistani forces targeted Taliban military installations at four separate locations. Security sources said the strikes also destroyed key military infrastructure during the operation.

Pakistan’s Ministry of Information and Broadcasting rejected claims by the Afghan Taliban’s spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid that a hospital had been struck, calling the allegation “contrary to facts” and aimed at misleading both international and domestic audiences.

The ministry also dismissed reports of civilian casualties, saying the operation was carried out with “extreme precision and caution” to avoid unnecessary damage.

Officials said the targeted locations were being used by terrorists of “Fitna al-Khawarij” and pro-Taliban elements to plan and launch attacks inside Pakistan.

The ministry reiterated that Pakistan prioritises regional peace and security but will not allow Afghan territory to be used for anti-Pakistan terrorism.

Security sources said operations under Operation Ghazab-lil-Haq will continue until the stated objectives are achieved.
