      <title>Govt decides to appoint Nehal Hashmi as Sindh Governor</title>

      <description>&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;The federal government has decided to appoint senior Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Nehal Hashmi as the Governor of Sindh.&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;According to a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has sent a summary in this regard to President Asif Ali Zardari for approval.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also met Nehal Hashmi to congratulate him on his appointment.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Other officials present included Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, and Adviser Rana Sanaullah.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;During the meeting, the Prime Minister congratulated Hashmi on his appointment.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Nehal Hashmi, a senior leader of the PML-N, hails from Karachi.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Nehal Hashmi previously served as a member of the Senate from March 2015 to February 2018.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;He also served as Adviser on Law, Justice, and Human Rights to former prime minister Nawaz Sharif from 1997 to 1999.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;On February 1, 2018, the Supreme Court of Pakistan sentenced Hashmi in a contempt of court case, giving him a one-month prison term.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;As a result, he was disqualified from holding any public office for five years.&lt;/p&gt;
